Who we are

Through FarmSUCCESSion.com, a division of Agriculture Strategy™, we emphasize how we take your farm and family from Good to GREAT by improving how you work together during the years leading up to farm transfer and succession. We focus on helping potential successors reach their full potential by helping parents groom their kids into management and gradually let go of control.

Most succession planners are in the business of selling you a financial product after they've divided your farm and family.  Our niche is the Decision Culture of Agriculture™ – we catalyze the family dynamics where multiple generations make decisions together for a decade± and parents can groom successful successors.

We bring the family together through conference voice/video calls weekly, monthly, or how often the family wants/needs to help them make those important joint decisions. We improve how families communicate and get things done. Anything you can do to improve decision-making systems, boosts profitability by a staggering percentage!

The root issue of failed farm successions

Often farm succession disputes arise when families cannot sit down and make decisions. Families get into power struggles, get frustrated and someone gets pushed off the farm. Bad decisions cause the soft issues which become hard problems in farming!  The reality is: your family isn't ready to discuss succession planning until your team can sit down and squeeze an extra 10% profit out of your assets. Once your family is able to make quality decisions together, we will quarterback the dream team of accounting and legal professionals to put together a succession strategy so that there are no surprises at the funeral.

We believe that until your family can squeeze out an extra 10% profit out of your farm in a year, you don’t have a ready successor or the family dynamics to do a 10-year strategic plan like succession planning.

What we do

Making Joint Decisions

Instead of pushing dad off the farm, we help multiple generations and siblings make/implement decisions together as a team.

Talent Grooming

We help parents gradually transition management responsibility and groom successful successors capable of running a multi-million dollar operation.

Skyrocket Profitability

Anything you can do to improve to HOW your family brainstorms new efficiencies, make decisions together as a team, and get these ideas into reality, will skyrocket your farm’s profitability.

Asset Transfer

Using the dream team of professionals in your state, behind the scenes we painlessly quarterback a succession strategy which eliminates surprises at the funeral and with the IRS.

We set the estate up so that the heirs involved in day-to-day farming operations understand clearly what they are working towards. We enable parents to happily “farm until they die” without hindering their successor’s farming career or the farm’s growth.

Our meetings subtly help parents and kids understand where both parties are coming from and why each party thinks the way they do. We motivate everyone to acknowledge, accept, and welcome each other’s views and ideas. We motivate everyone to focus on success and to make the changes they personally have to make to succeed. We believe it’s common sense to first groom a successful successor before transferring capital that took generations to build. Anything you can do to take your successor from being a good manager into a great manager improves the odds of the farm’s long-term success.

Invest in your legacy

Why spend your life building an empire if it falls apart after you’re gone? Why not do a good job transferring management, not just assets? Why worry about assets now when it is your successor’s long-term success that dictates your farm’s future? Our mission and life’s purpose is to keep your legacy alive and ensure that your family’s name stays on your farm’s mailbox for generations to come!

By nature, the more successful you are, the tougher it is for you to let go of control and teach management. We help parents overcome this by helping them groom their kids from being good managers to being GREAT managers.

Meet the Founder of FarmSUCCESSion.com

Andy Junkin (christened Mark Andrew Junkin) is a 7th generation farmer from Bobcaygeon, Ontario, Canada.  The day he left for Agriculture College, his mother showed him the farm financials and stated, “If you don’t fix these numbers, I’m leaving your father.”  When Andy’s father ploughed under his crops out of jealousy in 1996, he quickly realized that knowledge and skills aren’t the only things needed to turn around a failing farm.

Over the past two decades he became a self-taught expert creating his niche field of farm decision science - studying in-depth on how farm families often have a dysfunctional decision-making culture and an awkward transition of management.  Andy has written four books, has a column in 9 farm magazines, and speaks everywhere.  Over the past decade he’s made a full-time living mediating and has a track record for pulling off miracles.

In 2017, Andy married a Michigan farm girl named Bernadette Fox, and they settled near Solon, IA.  As a true husband/wife team, they are zealous about their mission to save as many family farms as possible.
